Job Description

Reporting to: Project Manager

We are seeking a motivated and competent Civil Works Technician to join our team in Senegal.

The successful candidate will participate in the preparation, supervision, and control of construction and site development activities related to telecommunications infrastructure projects. The role is responsible for ensuring that work is executed according to approved plans, technical specifications, quality standards, project timelines, budget requirements, and health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of Works

  • Review and interpret construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Carry out quantity surveys and material estimations.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical documentation and project files.
  • Prepare requirements for materials, equipment, and workforce resources.

Site Supervision

  • Monitor project progress and construction activities.
  • Verify compliance of completed works with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Supervise contractors and field teams on-site.
  • Participate in site meetings and project coordination activities.
  • Prepare site progress reports and technical documentation.

Quality and Safety Control

  • Ensure compliance with construction standards and engineering requirements.
  • Verify the quality of materials and workmanship.
  • Identify, document, and report technical non-conformities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

QHSE Compliance

  • Apply Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures at all times.
  • Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Comply with safety procedures during construction activities and work on technical sites.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering and construction practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of site inspections and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to prepare technical and operational reports.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.
  • Quantity surveying and cost estimation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of surveying and topography.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and related design software.
  • Knowledge of construction standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Requirements

Education and Required Experience

  • Previous experience in civil works, construction, infrastructure, or telecommunications projects is preferred.
  • Experience supervising site activities is an added advantage.

Languages

  • French, Level: Fluent, Required
  • English, Level: Working knowledge, added advantage
