Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Working in the project office in Abidjan, inland, under the supervision of the project manager. This role involves will have the following main tasks:

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving vehicles: Ensuring the transport of teams within the city of Abidjan, as well as within the country, in accordance with the defined itinerary and instructions given;
  • Filling in the logbook daily on starting and ending duty;
  • Ensure that all documents (insurance policy, registration certificate, roadworthiness certificate, logbook, etc.) and equipment required for the vehicle (first aid kit, warning triangle, jack, tools, spare tyre, vest, fire extinguisher, etc.) are available and up to date;
  • Not to take on board or transport any person or equipment from outside the company without the agreement of the Operations Manager, the Deputy Chief Of Party or the Chief Of Party;
  • Ensure that passengers on board have fastened their seat belts before starting the vehicle;
  • Drive the vehicles in accordance with the Highway Code in force in Côte d’Ivoire and OSER’s road safety rules;
  • Ensure the safety of themselves, their passengers and third parties;
  • Ensure that fuel cards always have sufficient credit and, if not, inform the Fleet Manager;
  • Welcome and accompany project staff and missionaries to the airport and, if necessary, facilitate departure or arrival formalities;
  • Carry out office errands, collect and distribute mail, as well as any other documents and products under the supervision of the Operations Manager ;
  • Vehicle maintenance: Every morning, check the various parameters of the vehicles (water level in the radiator and windscreen washer, engine oil, clutch and brake fluid, battery electrolyte, condition and pressure of tyres, etc.) and make any necessary additions;
  • Every morning, and whenever necessary, maintain the vehicle: wash the outside, remove dust and clean the inside;
  • Maintain the fuel level at at least half the tank;
  • For minor repairs (tyre changes, etc.), supervise the repairs and fill in the appropriate register;
  • Make all necessary arrangements for major repairs and periodic maintenance of vehicles in accordance with the manufacturer’s standards ;
  • Other duties:
  • Keep abreast of road, traffic and other conditions in the city of Abidjan and the areas where the teams will be travelling to ensure the safety of the teams;
  • Be punctual to ensure that meetings, appointments and activities run smoothly;
  • Be available for any other tasks as defined by the hierarchy.

Qualifications

  • Hold a B, C and D driving licence valid for more than 2 years.
  • Have a minimum knowledge of mechanics;
  • At least two (02) years’ professional experience in a similar position;

Skills and Competencies

  • Have a good knowledge of the cities of Côte d’Ivoire.
  • Be courteous, honest and dedicated.
  • Good presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to travel frequently;
  • Respectful of the confidentiality of information;
  • Computer skills would be an asset;
  • Experience with a similar project would be an asset.

Requirements

Education and Required Experience

  • Have a minimum knowledge of mechanics;
  • At least two (02) years’ professional experience in a similar position;

Languages

  • Be able to read, write and speak French fluently;
  • Knowledge of English would be an asset;
