Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Back Office IP RAN Engineer (IP-based Radio Access Networks) to join our team. This role focuses on the management, troubleshooting, and optimization of IP-based Radio Access Networks (RAN) to ensure seamless mobile connectivity and network reliability. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in IP networking, mobile technologies, and RAN performance management, contributing to the overall efficiency of our telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level system support with product expertise to resolve faults escalated from first-level diagnostics (Front Office and Field Maintenance).
  • Conduct preliminary remote investigations and rectifications of faults.
  • Provide support for emergency incident management.
  • Offer guidance and support for network modifications and operations.
  • Produce technical reports to identify root causes of issues and provide preventive recommendations to avoid recurring problems.
  • Manage incident tickets escalated to third-level support when necessary to resolve network or complex issues and follow through until resolution is implemented.
  • Regularly review and update technical instructions and procedures.
  • Develop new methodologies and technical procedures as required.
  • Provide technical guidance to first-level staff to enhance technical skills, improve fault rectification time, and reduce escalated faults.
  • Develop a preventive maintenance procedure and recommend scheduling for various teams.
  • Review and regularly update operational and maintenance methodologies and procedures.
  • Train monitoring staff to improve skills and reduce the number of escalated incident tickets.
  • Proactively investigate network performance using network indicators and incident tickets generated by the performance group.

Communications and Working Relationships:

  • Collaborate with NOC FO, performance team, cross-functional management, and troubleshooting teams.
  • Follow up with OEM for L2/L3 issues.
  • Share root cause analysis (RCA) with senior management and provide task reports on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in IP RAN or similar roles in the telecommunications industry.
  • Hands-on experience with LTE, 5G, and IP networking technologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing mobile telecommunications, including network performance and NOC BO parts management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, for 24/7 network support.
  • Occasionally travel to field sites or OEM facilities for advanced troubleshooting.

Requirements

Education and Required Experience

  • Strong knowledge of IP protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP).
  • Proficiency in managing RAN equipment and tools (e.g., routers, switches, and base stations).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
