Location and Remote Work Options

Senegal – Ziguinchor and Tambacounda

This is an on-site, field-based position. Candidates must be willing to be based in the assigned region and travel as required to project and telecom site locations.

Hammer Senegal is seeking to recruit two experienced Telecom Team Leaders – MW & Wireless to support its regional operations in Ziguinchor and Tambacounda.

The successful candidates will lead and supervise field technicians responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microwave (MW) links and wireless network equipment.

The role requires strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities to ensure all activities are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, HSE requirements, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead and supervise regional telecom teams, including technicians and installers working on MW and wireless network projects.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily and weekly work schedules.
  • Allocate resources and assign tasks according to project priorities.
  • Monitor individual and team performance and ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to team members.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company procedures.

2. Technical Execution – MW and Wireless

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microwave (MW) links and wireless network equipment.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with vendor specifications, technical standards, and project timelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults affecting MW and wireless links to minimize service downtime.
  • Support site surveys and technical assessments where required.
  • Conduct or support link alignment, commissioning, testing, and performance verification.
  • Carry out link budget verification and other technical checks as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical activities and test results.

3. Quality, HSE and Compliance

  • Ensure all installations comply with approved technical specifications, quality standards, HSE regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed, particularly during tower climbing and work at height.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and other HSE concerns promptly.
  • Promote a strong safety and quality culture among field teams.

4. Reporting and Operational Coordination

  • Prepare and submit daily and weekly progress reports to the Installation Team Leader.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, test results, installation activities, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate with logistics, procurement, and other internal departments to ensure the timely availability of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Escalate technical, operational, resource, or project issues in a timely manner.
  • Support effective communication between field teams, management, clients, and other project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications network installation and maintenance.
  • Strong practical expertise in Microwave (MW) and Wireless technologies.
  • Good understanding of MW link installation, alignment, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless network equipment.
  • Good understanding of telecom site installation standards and procedures.
  • Good understanding of HSE requirements for telecommunications field operations.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices for tower climbing and working at height.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and installation requirements.

Requirements

Education and Required Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in telecommunications network installation and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Microwave (MW) and Wireless network technologies.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a technical field team is required.
  • Experience working on telecom sites and regional field operations will be an advantage.
