In a profound commitment to community well-being, Airtel has yet again made significant strides in supporting maternal health centers across Uganda.

With a proven track record of community engagement, the telecom giant has amplified its impact through direct donations and community-centric initiatives. One such endeavor, undertaken in April 2022, saw Airtel equip 13 maternity facilities and refurbish a vital maternal health center, marking a substantial investment in the health and well-being of mothers and babies in the region.

Partnering with the Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau, Airtel orchestrated a substantial donation drive, providing essential equipment to 13 hospitals. The generous contribution included delivery beds, oxygen cylinders, oxygen regulators with humidifier bottles, and digital weighing scales for newborns. Going beyond medical supplies, Airtel extended support to expectant mothers by distributing 500 ‘Mama kits’ and essential food items within the health facilities. This benevolent initiative, valued at UGX70 million (equivalent to $18,700), is a testament to Airtel’s unwavering commitment to fostering healthier communities.

Underlining the broader Airtel Cares program, the company also undertook the complete refurbishment of the Kisaasi Church of Uganda (CoU) Health Center. With a dedicated investment of UGX50 million (equivalent to $13,500), the initiative aimed to enhance health service delivery within the local community. This undertaking reflects Airtel’s holistic approach to community development, reaching beyond the realms of telecommunications to address fundamental healthcare needs.

The refurbishment project at the Kisaasi CoU Health Center not only rejuvenated the physical infrastructure but also bolstered the center’s capacity to provide crucial healthcare services to the community. Airtel’s commitment to social responsibility shines through in initiatives like these, aligning with the company’s ethos of making a positive impact on the lives of the people it serves.

By actively engaging with healthcare providers and local communities, Airtel has become a catalyst for positive change in Uganda’s healthcare landscape. The company’s efforts go beyond business metrics, reflecting a deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of the Ugandan people.
