Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations & Legal Affairs Manager to join our Human Resources team in Senegal.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive employee relations environment, ensuring compliance with labor laws and employment regulations, managing disciplinary and legal matters, and advising management on employment law and human resources best practices. The role also supports workplace health, safety, and employee well-being initiatives while minimizing organizational legal risks.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with employee representatives and social partners.
  • Prepare, organize, and coordinate meetings with employee representative bodies.
  • Participate in collective bargaining and employment negotiations.
  • Prevent, manage, and resolve individual and collective labor disputes.
  • Advise managers on employee relations and labor law matters.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Employment Law & Compliance

  • Monitor changes in labor legislation and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices comply with Senegalese labor laws and applicable collective agreements.
  • Develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and internal regulations.
  • Provide legal guidance to management on employment-related decisions.

Disciplinary & Legal Case Management

  • Oversee disciplinary procedures in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Draft and review disciplinary notices, warnings, and employment termination documentation.
  • Prepare documentation for labor disputes and legal proceedings.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel and government authorities when required.

Health, Safety & Employee Well-being

  • Support the implementation of Health, Safety, and Well-being (HSE/QWL) initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Coordinate workplace risk prevention programs.
  • Promote employee wellness and quality of work-life initiatives.
  • Monitor workplace accidents and occupational illness cases in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of employment and labor law.
  • Solid understanding of employee and industrial relations.
  • Experience managing disciplinary procedures and employment disputes.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • Ability to interpret and apply labor legislation.

Requirements

Education and Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Employee Relations, Labour Law, Human Resources, or Legal Affairs.
  • Previous experience in the telecommunications, engineering, or infrastructure sectors is an advantage.
  • Experience managing labor disputes, compliance, and employee representative engagements is highly desirable.

Languages

  • French: Fluent (Required)
  • English: Working proficiency (Preferred)
